Editing Services for Graduate Students

Your time is valuable; I can help you make the most of it.

You've put in hours of hard work, taken coursework, read too many books and papers to count, conducted your research and now you need to write. You don’t have the time or energy to worry about where that comma is supposed to go or how to format all those references. I can handle those details and more for you.

Let me help.

An editor can help you with formatting and grammar, allowing you to focus on research and writing. I have years of experience mentoring students, editing theses and dissertations, and working with students who are not fluent in English. My services include:

  • Correcting errors in grammar, word usage and syntax.

  • Checking for consistency in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, hyphenation and abbreviations.

  • Formatting citations and cross-checking citations in the text with your reference list.

  • Suggesting where additional citations may be needed.

  • Formatting your document, including creating a table of contents, inserting page numbers, etc.

  • Noting places where your writing is unclear or phrasing needs improvement.

All editing takes place in MS Word with track changes, so you can see the edits I suggest and decide whether to accept them. Many students also report that their writing improves with each edit, as they are able to learn from the suggested changes. Reach out today, tell me about your sticking points, and together we will develop a strategy to polish your paper, thesis or dissertation.

“I hired Rebecca to edit my graduate level papers, because I did not have the time to focus on the details. I was too busy writing! Rebecca was an ace at learning my school’s editing standards and applying them. She managed a very fast turnaround time while still catching every detail, and her feedback on my writing was invaluable. I got A’s on the papers Rebecca edited! She was exactly what I needed. I will definitely be hiring her throughout my graduate career and beyond.”
